Teen Pregnancy

Don't turn your head so you don't need to face the facts. Instead face it and try stopping and preventing it from continuing. There are many sorts of ways of preventing pregnancy such as, condoms, or birth control, etc. But the best way to prevent it is abstinence. Which is not having sexual contact or intercourse at all. Most parents don't even talk to their children about sex or about pregnancy and staying safe. It has been proven that kids and teens who have a good relationship with their parents are less likely to experience teen pregnancy.

The United States has by far the highest rate of teen pregnancies throughout the whole western industrialized world! Think of how many people and teenagers that includes! Statistics have shown that; in the year of 2000, the total number of teen pregnancies in the United States was 821,810. Canada, whose total rate of teen pregnancies for 2000 was 38,600. Many other western industrialized countries have even lower pregnancy rates than Canada. Also it is proven that the age grouping of 18 to 19 years of age are the highest pregnancy age group in the United States, followed by the age grouping of 18 to 17 year old.

Teen pregnancy causes many problems and debts for not only them but also for the government. Young mothers are more likely to not finish high school or college. It's estimated that 80% of unmarried teen mothers end up trying to survive on welfare. Compared to 25 years ago, most teen mothers are less unlikely to be married to the same child's father. Most teen mothers cannot only support themselves but as well their newborn child. Statistics show that daughters of teen mothers are more at risk of experiencing a teen pregnancy themselves, also that the sons of teen mothers are more likely to wind up in prison.
